“My mission is to help other people understand their dog and to make their life as ‘Pawsome’ as possible!”

About Hannah Antrobus

I remember as a child my parents saying we were going to the garden centre, and I was less than impressed! In fact, we went to the rescue centre and found Scooby, a cheeky collie cross who became my childhood best friend.

I taught Scooby all sorts of tricks, our bond was undeniable and this just increased my passion for dogs and everything dog related.

As well as Scooby, my parents had to contend with having a small farm within our home! We had rabbits, hamsters, horses, fish, mice, and cats. But dogs were always my number one love.

I spent all my spare time with animals and helped out at local rescues and worked with the local veterinary practice.

Puppy and Dog training Warwickshire

I enrolled at University to study Criminology and Human Psychology. While away for 3 years it made me realise how much I missed being around animals, dogs in particular. Shortly after this Kobie came into my life. Kobie was an 8-week-old cocker spaniel who was simply adorable and used his puppy dog eyes very well!

However, Kobie had challenges. I soon realised that he wasn’t comfortable in social situations, he barked at everything and he hated being alone. He was very scared. I remember looking at Google for how to help him and feeling completely overwhelmed and confused by the mass of information and conflicting advice. There were no consistent answers, and that was when I realised…

“There’s too much information out there! I was overwhelmed and in a worse place than I was before”

I then started using my knowledge from my Degree (there are some similarities between human and dog behaviour). I started reading more and more about dog behaviour, and I got to know amazing local trainers and behaviourists, and started helping them out in their classes. It was during one workshop with some top trainers who were on TV at the time that I realised I wanted to do this as a career. I then did more training and qualified with the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers, after passing a very rigorous assessment to the highest level.

I also qualified with Absolute Dogs. In my training I use a games based approach because fun is fun…damental to your training. We will help your dog by playing games which will turn your struggles into your strengths, and sky rocket your relationship.

I have done more courses than I can name since, and constantly improve my knowledge, when you work with me you’re getting access to the most up to date research out there.

I set up the company because I know how it feels for your dog to bark and lunge at another dog or person, I know how it feels to be judged as an owner, I know how it feels to think I will never be able to let my dog off the lead, I know how it feels to be completly confused and overwhelmed with your new puppy, I know how it feels to think you’re doing it all wrong.

And I know how to help you and improve things. Kobie can enjoy off lead runs now, he can be left alone happily, he can come to the pub and settle, he no longer react to people or dogs instead plays with them. He can still react to cyclists which is a work in progress. Training often is, you may have ups and downs but I will be there to support you.

Kobie still is not perfect nor is my other Cocker Spaniel Bailey but what dog is? And wouldn’t perfect be a bit boring? Perfect is whatever is perfect to you not everyone else, if you want a trainer with perfect dogs I am afraid I am not the trainer for you.

But when you work with me, I will not judge you, i will not reprimand you, I will support you, I will celebrate your achievements, I will not tell you off, I will be there as a shoulder to cry on if you need to. I am here for you because I know how you feel.

So if you want to enjoy your walks, or just give your new puppy the best start in life please get in touch for your free 15 minute chat to find out how I can help you and your dog reach your full pawtential.

I work a lot with Spaniels, and I’m the behavioural advisor for Spaniel Assist Rescue and Rehoming, a national rescue for spaniels. I help advise people all over the country who have Spaniels – who I affectionately refer to as the ‘Peter Pan of the dog world’!

You can teach your spaniel to be calm and find an off switch I promise you!

Kobie taught me a valuable lesson about the relationship between dog and owner that’s far from the Hollywood depiction or those silly TV shows you’ve seen about dog ‘dominating’ or ‘pack leaders’. That’s not what I subscribe to at all, and it’s not what helped Kobie when he was a scared little puppy.

The real answers lie in working with your dog and finding a solution together. Each dog is an individual, my way of training is bespoke to you and your dog. I only use positive, modern and most importantly fun methods, so as well as improving your dog’s issues I improve the relationship that you have together.

Hannah is an excellent trainer, very encouraging, patient and really understands Spaniels. We did a remote training session over FaceTime yesterday and it worked really well. She was able to see what Finley was doing, offer suggestions and support and we could talk through how to take his training forward whilst we’re in lockdown. It worked really well and is highly recommend. Thanks HannahAmy Fiddy
